Bukit Way
Light & Airy Living Across Five Levels
Our Australian executive clients approached Havana Interiors following their relocation to Singapore after Covid, transitioning from a compact apartment in Hong Kong into a significantly larger landed family home.
At approximately 4,500 sq ft and arranged across five levels, the new residence offered an entirely different way of living. The challenge was to incorporate the furniture and belongings the family had brought with them from their smaller Hong Kong home, while sourcing the additional pieces required to make the much larger property feel complete, cohesive and welcoming.
The brief was to create an interior that felt light, airy and relaxed, complementing the architecture of the home and its connection to the surrounding greenery.
Rather than simply filling the additional space, we carefully considered the scale and function of each room. Existing furniture was incorporated where appropriate, while new pieces were introduced to create balance and ensure the generous proportions of the residence felt comfortably furnished without becoming overcrowded.
A soft, understated palette and lighter finishes helped maintain a sense of openness throughout the five levels. Natural textures, comfortable furnishings and considered layers of rugs, lighting and accessories introduced warmth, creating a sophisticated family home that still felt relaxed and easy to live in.
An important element of the design was a large-scale artwork specially commissioned for the client. The piece became a focal point within the home, with the surrounding furniture and finishes carefully considered to complement rather than compete with it.
The property's outdoor spaces were equally important to the way the family wanted to live. Lush gardens brought greenery into the experience of the interiors, while the rooftop terrace provided an additional space for relaxing and entertaining - making the most of Singapore's tropical lifestyle.
Across the residence, our objective was to create continuity between the different levels and spaces, allowing the home to feel connected despite its substantial size.
The completed Bukit Way residence is bright, contemporary and effortlessly comfortable - a family home that embraces its generous proportions while retaining a sense of warmth and intimacy.
For Havana Interiors, this project was about helping an international family transition not only between countries, but between two very different styles of living. By thoughtfully combining furniture from their previous Hong Kong apartment with carefully selected new pieces, we created a home that felt familiar yet entirely suited to their new life in Singapore.
