Our Australian executive clients had been living in Singapore for many years when they approached Havana Interiors after moving into their new 2,000 sq ft apartment at Martin Place Residences.

Having transitioned from a previous home with a very different layout and configuration, the family needed assistance determining which of their existing furniture would work within the new residence, what should be replaced, and how new pieces could be introduced to create a more cohesive and considered interior.

The brief was to create a home that felt comfortable and stylish, while remaining practical and durable for the realities of a busy young family.

Rather than replacing everything, our approach was to carefully assess the clients’ existing furniture and retain pieces that continued to work well. New furniture, rugs, lighting and accessories were then introduced to complement these pieces while responding to the proportions and flow of the new apartment.

Furniture placement was particularly important. Moving into a differently configured home meant that pieces which had worked successfully in the previous property did not necessarily translate naturally into the new space. Each room was therefore considered afresh, with layouts designed to improve flow, functionality and the way the family used the home day to day.

The overall aesthetic is relaxed, contemporary and refined. Comfortable upholstery and tactile materials bring softness and warmth, while clean lines and a restrained palette create a sense of calm and continuity throughout the residence.

With young children, durability was just as important as appearance. Materials and furnishings were selected with family life in mind, allowing the interiors to feel sophisticated without becoming overly precious or impractical.

The result is a beautifully balanced family home - fresh and stylish, yet relaxed enough to be genuinely lived in.

For Havana Interiors, this project demonstrates that moving home does not necessarily mean starting again. Through thoughtful editing, considered new selections and careful space planning, an existing collection can be reimagined to feel entirely at home within a new environment.
